26 students, one shared idea: to take part in the IMechE Railway Challenge and the European Railway Challenge with a 1:5 scale locomotive we have designed and built ourselves. With this goal in mind, we came together in the spring of 2026. The plan: to take part in the competitions in Bad Schussenried and Stapleford in the summer of 2027.
Our motivation
We come from a wide variety of degree programmes. Among us are students from the following disciplines:
- Transport Engineering
- Automotive Engineering
- Transport Planning and Operations
- Physics
- Renewable Energy and Process Engineering
- Mechanical Engineering
- Engineering Physics
- Computer Engineering
- Mathematics
This diversity of experience and knowledge is what defines us. We are united by the desire to join forces and put our collective theoretical knowledge into practice. To create something completely new, starting from a blank sheet of paper.
Our Philosophy
- Safety first!
- We look out for one another.
- We work with caution and care.
- We design our locomotives to minimise safety risks.
- Transparency through systematic documentation
- All work processes are documented.
- All documents are available to everyone in the team.
- Shared responsibility – shared success
- We make key decisions based on the principle of consensus.
- Our meetings are chaired by different team members in turn.
- Prioritisation
- We aim to ensure that all components are fundamentally functional before we begin optimisation.
- The aim is to win the challenge. That is why, right from the start, we gear the development and design process towards achieving the maximum number of points in the challenges.
- Our scale is 1:5, our commitment 1:1
- Innovation through interdisciplinarity and courage
